Did you know that it's possible to walk in Commencement and study abroad in the same semester? It takes good planning and some flexibility but it is entirely possible.
For spring 2016, there are 20 UCEAP opportunities that end in time to get on the plane and return to Merced for Commencement and they are good candidates for the same in 2017. Commencement ceremonies in spring 2017 are likely to be May 13 & 14.

If you're interested, feel free to start your application or speak to a study abroad advisor today.
If you select a program that runs past commencement, you have two options to participate:
- Choose a later commencement ceremony (i.e. one year later), or
- Purchase additional round-trip airfare to return for commencement weekend (make sure to discuss this with a study abroad advisor first).
What is most important is to select a program that meets your academic needs.
