We recently caught up with former UCEAP student, Abby Shapiro of UC Merced. She studied abroad for a semester in Spain and had such an amazing time she just had to go abroad again – the second time to Singapore!
“I chose the Hispanic Studies Program at the Carlos III University of Madrid because I wanted to develop my Spanish language skills while also satisfying course requirements for my History major and Spanish minor,” said Abby. “I loved my study abroad experience. One of the most significant things I learned was the great pleasure I got from traveling to new places, particularly on my own. The self-confidence I gained while abroad was a significant motivating factor towards my decision to apply for the Peace Corps.”
