FAQ: What does financial aid cover for Study Abroad?

Basically, the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships receives an updated program budget for Study Abroad students and repackages students for the total minimum cost of attendance. In addition to tuition & fees, if you need roundtrip airfare or a study visa, Financial Aid repackages based on these estimated costs.

Here are specific costs typically covered:

  • Tuition & fees
  • Room & board
  • Travel & health insurance
  • One roundtrip airfare ticket
  • Local transportation
  • Books, lab fees, materials
  • Passports, study visas, residence permits
  • Internships & excursions included in the program

Here are specific costs typically excluded:

  • Wardrobe updates (e.g. heavy jackets for colder climates)
  • Extra travel plans not included in the program
  • Optional excursions & attractions
  • Additional roundtrip airfare tickets
