Q: Initially, what made you decide to study abroad? Why did you choose your program?

A: I chose to study abroad at the London School of Economics because it offers legal courses at the undergraduate level since the United States does not have a bachelors of law.

Q: What was the highlight of your study abroad experience?

A: Meeting people from around the world. I befriended students from Canada, India, Africa, Singapore, China, and other fellow UC students.

Q: What was your greatest challenge abroad and how did you overcome it?

A: My greatest challenge was keeping up with the course. The UK has law as an undergraduate degree rather than a Juris Doctorate degree so students were knowledgeable about legal words and definitions. I overcame it by doing additional readings and research on my class materials.

Q: How did your coursework abroad compare to your courses at UC Merced?

A: The discussion class was the most significant difference. Discussion courses required heavy participation through debates and discussions. It was extremely different from discussion courses in UC Merced but it was enriching.

Q: What did you gain from your study abroad experience?

A: I gained more knowledge about my field of interest in law. I was able to learn about international legal systems.

Q: What advice do you have for students considering study abroad?

A: Apply to as many scholarships as possible.

Q: Describe a typical day for you abroad.

A: Every morning I have lecture from 10:00am to 1:00pm. From 1:00pm to 2:00pm I have my lunch break and study in the library on-campus. From 2:00pm - 3:30pm I would have discussion class about the lecture. At 3:30pm I would hangout with friends in London city until 5:30pm. 6:00pm onwards I would study and do the required readings.
