July is HOT in Merced. Our average high is 96° and some days are hot enough to cook an egg on the pavement, but you could be somewhere cooler next summer.
This month we welcome new bobcats to UC Merced via new student orientation. With almost every remaining July high above 100° these new bobcats are in for a very warm welcome. The average high temperature in Merced in July? 96°. And we may be on track for higher still.
But next summer, you could study abroad in a cooler climate. Whether in the British Isles or along the Mediterranean, most European cities will beat Merced's heat. Even places like Hong Kong, Bangkok, and New Delhi are technically cooler than Merced, but we are creatures of comfort in the USA with air conditioning using more electricity for cooling than almost anywhere else in the world.
Below are some summer programs for your consideration to help keep you cool in summer 2023.
