UC Education Abroad Program Launches New Submester Under the Sea Program

UC Submester Logo

All aboard! UC Merced students have the chance to set sail this fall with the new University of California Education Abroad Program Submester Under the Sea opportunity. The newly launched program allows students to take classes at sea visiting several sites around the world.

Perhaps in reaction to Semester at Sea’s growing popularity or perhaps to celebrate 50 years of study abroad with a bang, UCEAP has announced its newest program, a round-the-world study voyage aboard a decommissioned submarine. UCEAP’s newest opportunity will have 35 faculty, staff and crew members lead 140 students around the globe.

The program takes advantage of unique aspects of riding a submarine around the world from engineering to marine biology to international relations while allowing students to access financial aid. Students will benefit socially from living in close quarters and culturally from prearranged site visits at various ports of call.
